Nursery Teaching Assistant - St Michaels CofE Primary Academy, Exeter
Contract Term: Fixed Term until 31/08/2026
Hours: 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday 11.30am to 3.30pm)
Salary: STC Grade 2 - NJC Points 3-5 Starting Salary £11,580 (£24,796 FTE)
Going to Grade SCP4-7 from April 26 Starting salary £11,762 (FTE £25,185)
Term Time only - 39 weeks per annum

We are recruiting a highly motivated and dynamic Nursery Assistant (EYFS Teaching Assistant), to ensure that our nursery children get the very best start to education possible. At St. Michael’s, we are passionate about providing our preschool children with the best start in their early year’s education. We are seeking to appoint someone with a secure understanding of child development, the importance of play and a commitment to providing children with high quality learning experiences. St Michael’s CofE Primary Academy is a larger than average, primary school, located in Heavitree, Exeter and has been part of the local community for over 140 years. It is oversubscribed and is currently full with 420 pupils. The school is inclusive and as such, welcomes children with a range of needs and from a variety of backgrounds. This leads to an active learning environment, catering for diverse cohorts whilst ensuring high standards. There is a strong team culture with staff working closely with each other for the benefit of all the children. Through established and embedded values, St Michael’s children are not only excellent learners, they are also first-class citizens, helping to make the world a better place for all. It is part of St Christopher’s Trust which comprises of 21 schools.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a calm and patient demeanour, who is committed to helping young people achieve their full potential. You will have had previous experience in working with children in a similar setting and be able to effectively communicate with adults and children alike.
