What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint a colleague who will:

• Engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge students who need support in both English and Maths, in order for them to excel academically
• Have relentlessly high expectations of themselves and students, maintaining good learning routines in the classroom
• Have excellent subject knowledge in English and a sound knowledge in Maths
• Be willing to teach across the full age range of students;year 7 to year 11
• Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the Department and wider school through sharing resources and good practice.
• Work as part of a team through collaborative teaching, mentoring and to participate in the continuing Professional Studies Programme.
• Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
• Support the schools’ aims and objectives for teaching and learning.
• Adhere to and promote all school policies and procedures.

Person Specification:

• Experience of teaching both primary and secondary or special school
• Experience of working with teams across a school
• Good level degree in a directly related subject (desirable)
• Thorough knowledge of the (11-16) subject Curriculum
• Recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, or equivalent experience
• Awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice
• Good level of IT literacy
• Be capable of delivering inspirational and informative lessons to the full age and ability range of pupils at the school
• Be able to demonstrate a positive and authoritative rapport with students
• Excellent and effective classroom management skills
• Have excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitors
• Be organised and self-motivated, with a proven record for meeting targets and deadlines
• Be patient and have a great sense of humour
