What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint a colleague who will:
- Engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge students who need support in both English and Maths, in order for them to excel academically
- Have relentlessly high expectations of themselves and students, maintaining good learning routines in the classroom
- Have excellent subject knowledge in English and a sound knowledge in Maths
- Be willing to teach across the full age range of students;year 7 to year 11
- Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the Department and wider school through sharing resources and good practice.
- Work as part of a team through collaborative teaching, mentoring and to participate in the continuing Professional Studies Programme.
- Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
- Support the schools’ aims and objectives for teaching and learning.
- Adhere to and promote all school policies and procedures.
Person Specification:
- Experience of teaching both primary and secondary or special school
- Experience of working with teams across a school
- Good level degree in a directly related subject (desirable)
- Thorough knowledge of the (11-16) subject Curriculum
- Recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, or equivalent experience
- Awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice
- Good level of IT literacy
- Be capable of delivering inspirational and informative lessons to the full age and ability range of pupils at the school
- Be able to demonstrate a positive and authoritative rapport with students
- Excellent and effective classroom management skills
- Have excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitors
- Be organised and self-motivated, with a proven record for meeting targets and deadlines
- Be patient and have a great sense of humour
