Hours of work: 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, calm and caring professional to join our team. The Designated Safeguarding Lead – Operational will work within the Safeguarding team, assisting the existing Operational DSL and Senior DSL with safeguarding and child protection across Watling Academy.

You will be part of operational discussions and inter-agency meetings and assist in the assessment of children. You will triage all referrals from staff and prioritise actions, advising and supporting all members of staff on child welfare, safeguarding and child protection matters. You will liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police when necessary.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience of a similar role within the education system or other relevant organisation involved in safeguarding and the protection of children, but full training will be provided.

Watling Academy was judged as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED in May 2023 and is a purpose-built 11-18 secondary school in its fourth year of operation, located within the Whitehouse development on the western expansion area of Milton Keynes. The Academy will have 1800 students when at full capacity. Watling Academy is part of the Denbigh Alliance MAT.
