Organ Teacher job summary
The Latymer School is a selective, co-educational school in North London with an outstanding musical tradition and excellent facilities. We are seeking, from January 2025, an experienced and inspirational Organ Teacher to join our large team of Visiting Instrumental Teachers.
The successful applicant will have a strong teaching record across a wide ability range. The school has three organ pupils at present but there is potential for this number to increase. In recent years we have seen pupils from the school taking up organ scholarships at Cambridge and Oxford universities.
The school's Great Hall has a three-manual Wyvern organ, installed in 2003, which is played at various school events. In the Music Department we have a Viscount digital chamber organ in one of our practice rooms that can be used for lessons and practice. In addition, we have links to the local parish church.
The successful applicant will be expected to play the organ, and prepare our pupils to do so, at formal school occasions – Founder’s Day, Remembrance Assembly and Carol Service – for which additional payment would be available.
