Mount Tamar is a vibrant, well established specialist school with a bright future in Plymouth. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible SEND Teaching Assistant to join our School.
The Role:
We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for working with pupils with Social and Emotional needs, particularly children with ASD and SEMH. You will need to be resilient, compassionate, understanding and above all highly driven towards pupil progression. We are looking for a highly experienced and positive communicator, with a natural ability to work cooperatively within a whole staff environment. You will need to have previous experience of working with children, not specifically schools, candidates with experience working in the Outdoor Education and Learning sector will be considered. You will need to have at least a GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths.
The specific areas of responsibility for an Outdoor TA will depend upon which class they are working with and they should follow guidance from the Outdoor Education Teacher. Tasks can include:
Support the Outdoor Education Teacher in creating an organised and vibrant learning environment.
Support pupils in their learning under the direction of the Outdoor Education Teacher.
Preparation and support of Outdoor Education lessons, pupil activities, tidying and clearing away, cleaning of and maintaining the school’s equipment.
Assist the Outdoor Education Teacher with delivering Outdoor Education lessons and Off-site Visits.
Creating a safe learning environment for students to participate in Outdoor Education.
You will be supporting children with their education on a 1:1 and small group basis.
As part of the role, the candidate will be expected to undertake a variety of training opportunities in Outdoor Education.
