What skills and experience we're looking for

The aim of outreach at Rowhill is to prevent exclusion as well as supporting effective transition for students when they return to mainstream school. The successful candidate will be expected to work with individual or groups of students as well as providing advice, support and training to staff in our partner secondary schools. This is an exciting and dynamic role where no two days are the same and you can have long-lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.

The successful candidate will have the ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with pupils, parents and school staff, have experience of managing student behaviour in a mainstream setting, be adaptable and creative and most importantly be passionate about supporting vulnerable students to remain in their mainstream setting.

The successful candidate will be educated to at least GCSE level and have proven literacy and numeracy skills, having achieved Grade 4, or above, in Maths and English.

What the school offers its staff

Rowhill School is a Pupil Referral unit for 11-16-year-olds, set on a well-resourced and beautiful site.

We educate pupils who are either permanently excluded, at the risk of permanent exclusion or cannot attend a mainstream setting for various medical reasons. We are a caring and forward-thinking school, where academic achievement and the personal development of each child go hand in hand.

This is an exciting time at Rowhill as we are in the process of redesigning and building our outreach offer. We are looking for an Outreach Support Assistant to join our brilliant outreach team to provide effective support to students in our mainstream schools.
