What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic P.E. Teacher to join a highly successful and highly motivated faculty in our school. As part of this collegial and dedicated team you will be instrumental in inspiring and motivating our students.

Our forward-thinking Faculty takes a collaborative and supportive approach to the development of its staff, and you will play a key role in continuing to raise standards. A willingness to contribute to the outstanding and nationally recognised extra-curricular activity of the thriving P.E. Faculty is essential. This post is equally suitable for an ECT or for a more experienced teacher wishing to move to another school setting.

Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the school before making an application.

What the school offers its staff

The successful candidate will be joining a tight-knit community; the turnover at GCA is consistently low and the well-being of our staff is important to us. We aim to support staff to achieve a sensible work-life balance.

Staff at the Academy collaborate and support each other by sharing good practice and taking a team approach with a focus on collective responsibility. Paul Sutton, our Principal, encourages teachers to have an impact beyond their subject and he is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved. We have an impressive range of extra-curricular activities and all our staff are involved in running at least one.

The personal development of all our staff is highly valued at GCA and we offer the opportunity to apply for our Learning Award of up to £2,400 per year for your continued professional development or other skills and talents. This is in addition to the school’s ongoing CPD programme. Other benefits staff can opt into include a cycle to work scheme and an interest-free annual season ticket loan.

  • is driven to ensuring every student can attain excellence in sport regardless of their starting point.
  • is committed to making GCA a recognised hub of sporting excellence locally, nationally, and internationally, creating pathways into sport outside of and beyond school.
