Parental Engagement and Student Attendance Lead job summary

Fortismere is a high-attaining, mixed foundation secondary school in the heart of Muswell Hill, North London. The Co-headteachers are looking to appoint a Parental Engagement and Student Attendance Lead to join our Pastoral team.

At Fortismere, we have developed robust pastoral systems that place student wellbeing at its heart. Our pastoral systems foster a sense of belonging and community, while providing students with guidance and support throughout their educational journey. Fortismere School is committed to providing an education that prepares students for the challenges of the modern world. We believe that by offering young people an outstanding range of opportunities, they will discover their talents and passions, transforming their lives.

A key part of this role is to work in partnership with the Attendance Administrative Lead and wider Pastoral Team and to engage with a variety of stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes for all students. We know that at times some students require more support to be able to flourish in school and the successful candidate will work closely with these students and their families to help remove barriers to success. The Parental Engagement and Student Attendance Lead will build excellent relationships with external agencies and build up a network of support.

This role will also require the postholder to organise Parental Engagement sessions inviting guest speakers in and utilising our own staff to support parents and carers in understanding their child’s needs and how best to support them at home. This will include sourcing speakers and setting up workshops both in person and online. Sessions will range from academic and curriculum information to social, emotional and mental health support.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, administration and interpersonal skills with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the ever-changing needs of both students and the school. They will have a methodical approach to work and be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. The role is offered term time only and full time and part time applications will be accepted.

We are an equal opportunities employer, and we welcome and strongly encourage applications from candidates representing ethnically diverse communities.

The successful candidate will be able to:
Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and carers to support pupil development.
Identify and address barriers to learning and work with pupils and families to develop effective strategies.
Collaborate with teachers and school staff to ensure coordinated support for pupils.
Provide guidance and support to families on educational and social issues.
Maintain accurate records of interactions and interventions with pupils and families.

We can offer:

A friendly work environment and a supportive team

Pension, Cycle scheme, Season ticket loan, Tech scheme, EAP

Continuous CPD

Happy and confident children who enjoy being at school

A committed Governing Body and an experienced and committed leadership team
