The Music Department is a creative and vibrant learning community which offers students a nurturing environment in which to explore and develop their musical skill and passion. Year on year, our students make superb progress, significantly higher than national standards. Progress at GCSE level is exceptionally strong (2019 P8 of 0.27; 2018 P8 of 0.78) and we have recently began offering music at A Level. Several of our students are currently study at the junior schools of top London conservatoires and go on to further musical study in tertiary education. Alongside academic excellence, the department offers a wide-ranging and inclusive extra-curricular provision with 15 different ensembles and clubs being offered before and after school on a weekly basis. Regular performance opportunities both in and out of school as well as domestic and overseas trips give our students the space and cultural capital for musical and personal growth.
The successful candidate will:
• Be able to teach across all key stages, including GCSE and A Level
• Involve themselves fully in the extra-curricular musical life of the school
• Have a clear understanding of what outstanding learning & teaching should look like
• Believe in the right of every student to succeed
• Have the energy to inspire, motivate and challenge students
• Be committed to developing a knowledge rich curriculum and implementing Rosenshine's principles of instruction
