Job/Person Summary
Shirley Warren is a highly inclusive school that values the input of the whole community. We have an emphasis on teamwork underpinned by our core values of ambition, equality and respect. We are looking for someone to join our skilled, hardworking and dedicated staff. We can offer you a team willing to offer support and expertise to develop your own practice; we are also keen to learn from you and use your ideas to enrich the quality of education for our children.
We work in a well-resourced school, with bright spacious classrooms, colourful shared spaces equipped with the latest technology. Our school sits in an area of high deprivation and offers staff the opportunity to make a difference and impact on children’s lives for the better. We have a ‘grow your own’ ethos which has enabled many of our staff members to further their career in leadership.
The Leadership Team and Governors are looking to appoint an experienced SENCo with strong Key Stage 2 knowledge to work alongside our current part time SENCo who supports EYFS and KS1. The successful applicant will be highly motivated and someone who shares in our determination to enable every child to reach their full potential.
Our Health and Wellbeing package includes:
● Full induction package
● Admin support for all teachers’ photocopying and displays
● Teachers are not required to cover morning break or run after school clubs
● Staff discount at Testlands Sports Hub
● A school committed to improving the work life balance of teachers
We can offer…
● Motivated and engaging children
● A supportive team developing your professional growth
● A wonderful and well-resourced environment
● Excellent CPD as part of the Redbridge & Lordshill Primary Federation; a group of 11 primary schools dedicated to improving the learning experiences of all children in our schools.
We are looking for a SENCo who has…
• An excellent knowledge and understanding of the statutory requirements of the SEND Code of Practice and practical application strategies for meeting the special educational needs of pupils
• Substantial experience of working with children with SEND and EHCPs (particularly of working with pupils with Autism)
• Experience of working with children who have additional social, emotional and/or mental health needs
• The ability to lead and manage a team of support staff to ensure provision matches the needs of all pupils with special or additional educational needs
• The ability to form strong partnerships with parents and offer them the support, advice and the reassurance they often seek in ensuring their child’s needs are being met
• Confidence in the use of data to analyse and evaluate performance, presenting information to a variety of audiences
• The ability to work strategically in partnership with our SEND team to provide the very best support for all of our children with SEND
• A high standard of written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
• The skills to be effective in working in partnerships with multi-agency professionals
• Resilience and the ability to work under pressure
• A passion for ensuring the life chances of Looked After and Previously Looked After Children are planned for and make a difference to their personal, social and emotional development and academic outcomes
Commitment to safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all of our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with any other relevant employment checks.
