Who are we?
The Physical Education department is comprised of 6 staff, with varying specialisms in terms of sports and teaching and learning. We have an experienced, supportive and creative team of practitioners, who are extremely passionate about their subject. We have committed to raising the aspirations of our children over the last two years via increased engagement in lessons and extra-curricular clubs, a focus on planning lessons to enable independent and collaborative learning, offering challenge in all lessons, and providing high quality feedback. We are a dedicated and passionate team who have had real success in the last five years which also makes our department one of the most successful at Abbey College.
The PE Department has been successful over a number of years at KS3, 4 and 5. In particular the KS4 & 5 results have been consistently good for attainment; 100% of our PE students achieving a Grade 4 or above at KS4 in either GCSE PE or Cambridge National Sports Studies and 100% of KS5 students achieving a Merit or above in BTEC Sport in 2022. We expect our results to continue to be successful and look forward to a good number of our Year 11 students continuing their studies with us at our successful Sixth Form. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver all 3 of these qualifications and experience in delivering some of these would be desired. In particular, experience in delivering and potentially leading on KS5 BTEC Sport would be desired.
