What skills and experience we're looking for

St John’s Catholic Specialist School is a school for young people up to 19 years with special educational needs. Our mission is to support our students to gain the knowledge and skills they will need to thrive in adult life. Every day is different, and staff work with pupils with a range of different needs, which include sensory impairments, communication and learning challenges or autism. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing the very best life chances for our students.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team within our provision. The successful candidate will be committed to planning and delivering a high quality, engaging curriculum, which will challenge and inspire all our students. We are seeking an outstanding teacher who is enthusiastic and passionate about food safety, nutrition and science, as well as developing a range of practical skills.

This role includes:

  • Planning, teaching, and assessing learning in an imaginative curriculum.
  • Working with a support team of knowledgeable and committed colleagues.
  • Enhancing pupils’ communication skills.
  • Promoting pupils’ self-esteem, independence, and participation within the school and local community.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who is compassionate but purposeful, focussing on maximising pupils’ progress; someone who works well in a team and is open to developing new skills. We are looking for people who want to make a positive difference every day and are committed to helping all our young people feel respected and valued.
