What skills and experience we're looking for
The Governors of this very successful Catholic High School wish to appoint a dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Maths to join our strong and dedicated Maths Department.
This part-time role will offer the successful candidate exciting challenges that will be both rewarding and fulfilling, and will support you to achieve your own personal career goals and aspirations. Governors would be delighted to offer a TLR 3.5 (£2,975) for up to three years, for an appropriately experienced and exceptional candidate.
Cardinal Allen is a great place to work and an excellent community to belong to. We receive tremendous support from our parent body and our committed group of Governors. Our pupils actively engage in all aspects of school life, and there is a culture of mutual support and openness.
Governors hope to appoint someone who will:
Ø Love and care for our children as much as they would their own;
Ø Be, or have the potential to be, in every sense a great teacher;
Ø Be enthusiastic, resourceful and keen to ensure that the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, personal development and well-being are achieved;
Ø Have high expectations of both themselves and those they work with;
Ø Be able to lead and inspire colleagues to continuously improve;
Ø Always be willing to go the extra mile for our children.
What the school offers its staff
The department consists of six members of staff led by a Curriculum Leader, Stuart Henderson, supported by a Lead Teacher. The department has a vibrant mix of innovative and traditional teaching, with lesson observations demonstrating that standards among the team are very high; however, this does not mean that the team isn’t committed to further improvements. The department has a strong sense of team spirit and mutual support, as well as a passion for their subject and a commitment to deliver a curriculum that allows each pupil to reach his or her potential. The department is developing a mastery curriculum to develop a deep understanding and fluency of mathematics so that pupils can “be all they can be”. We know that even higher standards can be achieved and existing team members are very supportive of initiatives to change and improve. Our new colleague will receive all the support and encouragement necessary to make a difference to our pupils and develop professionally for the next stage of his/her career.
Departmental classrooms are grouped together in the Allen Building and the department has an office and ample storage space. Each classroom is equipped with a desktop computer, interactive whiteboard and visualiser. The department also has a dedicated room with 32 computers available to all members of the team.
Further details about the role
We are an ambitious school and want the very best for the youngsters in our care. First and foremost we are looking for a great Teacher of Maths, or someone with the potential to become one; for that reason, we welcome applications from ECTs and more experienced candidates. For a colleague new to teaching, we have a perfect track record of supporting newly qualified teachers through their NQT year, and we are currently working with two colleagues who are in their second year of the ECT framework. Governors would very much welcome your application. For a more experienced colleague, this position offers a fantastic opportunity for someone who is already a great classroom teacher to take the next step and enjoy some leadership responsibility. As a school committed to the wellbeing of our staff, we are always keen to accommodate flexible working requests, and have numerous part-time teaching colleagues, each of whom is equally valued as their full-time counterparts. This position is a great opportunity if you find yourself wanting part-time work but in a setting that is unable to accommodate it.
Our children deserve the best, and so Governors would be delighted to offer a temporary TLR, for up to three years, to an exceptional candidate with appropriate experience. If you feel that your application falls into this category, Governors will be happy to discuss this at interview, along with what your additional responsibility might include.
