Part time Teacher of Sociology – initially a fixed term contract until Easter 2023
We are looking for part time teacher of Sociology to deliver the GCSE Level Sociology curriculum, motivating, engaging, and encouraging the students studying this subject to reach their full potential.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver appropriate schemes of work and lesson plans to meet the needs of the individual learner and the accreditation body
• Assess all learners on entry to ensure appropriate resources and support are in place and plan personalised learning for each timetabled student
• Motivate, engage, and encourage the students studying this subject to reach their full potential
• Set standards and monitor learner attendance, punctuality and retention and record this information including reporting any trends in issues to the Teacher in Charge
• Communicate effectively with colleagues across college to ensure best practice for communication of relevant learner information
• Actively participate in CPD activities and staff development activities

To support teacher welfare, we benefit from an early 1.35pm finish on Fridays and a two-week half term in October.

Hugh Christie is a mixed wide ability 11 to 18 high school based in Tonbridge, Kent.
Hugh Christie is ‘the place to be’ happy, successful and where pupils are well prepared for adult life.
Hugh Christie is a good school (OfSTED 2018) with a stable and well-motivated staff. Staff are supported well through a bespoke INSET programme led by our Lead Practioner Group.
Staff are encouraged to progress with most of the Senior Leadership Team being former middle leaders in the school.
The school finishes at 1-30pm on a Friday and has a two week holiday at the end of Term 1 to promote staff wellbeing.
