Part-time Year 1 Teacher job summary

In the first instance, we require a part-time Year 1 teacher to share class responsibilities with our teaching SENDCo.

The nature of this role has some flexibility as either a block of time (2 days a week) or spread across multiple days (afternoons). Additional opportunities could be available for candidates with wider experience and those who like a challenge!

Wingrave is a one-form-entry, rural combined school for 4 to 11 year olds; to date we have 217 children on roll from our immediate catchment and beyond. Growth mind-set and well-being are a fundamental part of our welcoming church-school community as we know how vital this is to nurturing life-long learners. Just as we commit to developing our children, staff are supported and encouraged through collaborative practise and continual professional development.

Beyond the class teacher responsibilities of planning for, teaching and assessing the children, we encourage our staff to collaborate and reflect on their practise to make our children’s experiences as engaging and challenging as possible, taking into account a range of learning abilities and styles. There are opportunities to lead subject areas and become involved in the wider life of the school through events and activities - we are always open to new ideas that will enrich our provision.

We are looking for candidates who will be invested in the children and will demonstrate that they are reliable, caring and hard working. A sense of humour is essential for our lively, sociable and energetic team. Sound organisation and communication skills are vital for the intense nature of school life and flexibility is a must to deal with the day to day changes and needs of the children. A passion for learning is crucial as we lead by example.

Visits can be arranged by calling the school office on 01296 681 436 and/or emailing office@wingrave.school. With notice, there is potential for visits over the half term holiday.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory DBS enhanced disclosure and references.

Commitment to safeguarding
