Pastoral Manager job summary
Pastoral Manager
Thank you for your interest in the post of Pastoral Manager which offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work in our improving and thriving school during an exciting time in its development. We are in the process of expanding our pastoral team to provide an enhanced level of support and guidance for our students to enable them to be successful.
We are a happy school community in which the skills and potential of our students are developed, encouraging moral, social, and economic awareness so that they can lead confident, healthy and responsible lives as individuals and members of society. Academic success is of course important, but we are also committed to ensuring that students develop the skills that will prepare them for life-long learning in a rapidly changing world; confident in their ability to meet any challenges ahead and enabling every student to succeed and achieve their full potential.
The role of Pastoral Manager is a crucial one and will add to the existing hard working and forward-thinking pastoral and welfare support team at Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College. The successful candidate will play a significant role in ensuring that BBEC continues to improve at an accelerated and sustainable rate.
We are looking for someone who has an aptitude for working with students and teachers in a professional manner, modelling behaviours for staff and students. The successful candidate will be part of a wider team which will support the development of the culture and ethos of the school.
The successful candidate will also work alongside senior colleagues; Senior Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher, Heads of Year and the other Pastoral Managers in the team, who all work on developing an ethos of excellent behaviour and attitudes in school.
The successful candidate will be:
Vibrant with high expectations of themselves and students
Caring and patient
Conscientious with excellent attention to detail
Able to work as part of a wider team
Ambitious for their own professional and career development
Able to motivate and enthuse students through a commitment to equal opportunities, regardless of background, Special Educational Needs or prior attainment
BEHAVIOUR AND ATTITUDES TEAM
There is a comprehensive team of senior staff who work within the Behaviour and Attitudes to learning team. The Senior Deputy Head teacher has overarching responsibility for the behaviour and attitudes to learning of all students within BBEC. The whole team shares responsibility for ensuring that systems and procedures keep all our students safe and behaving well.
The large pastoral manager team is overseen by the Lead Pastoral Manager and each year group has a dedicated non-teaching pastoral manager attached to them. There is also a Head of Year for each year group to support with the comprehensive pastoral care of our students. The successful candidate will support the pastoral team by responding appropriately and swiftly to day-to-day issues around behaviour.
Alongside the pastoral team BBEC has a large welfare team, which incorporates the Child Protection and Safeguarding specialists. There are five dedicated welfare staff who ensure students are happy and safe at all times.
We have a range of provisions and interventions available to support all students including our Behaviour Support Unit and our onsite alternative provisions Connect (KS3) and Bridge (KS4) which are facilities to support students with social and emotional difficulties.
BBEC is an inclusive school, our school motto is ‘We all belong at BBEC’. We celebrate our differences and our similarities and do not tolerate discrimination of any type. We have a bold approach to inclusion and work so that all students and staff can bring their authentic selves to school.
We can offer you:
- An environment in which all members of staff are valued and developed according to their own aspirations
- Additional access to professional development both within school and through other local providers.
- A supportive and ambitious Academy Trust which enables strong networking and career development
