What the school offers its staff

It is an exciting time to join Bridlington School as we continue to strengthen relationships with other local Education providers including nearby Secondary Schools and Primary Feeders. This provides opportunity to be involved in transition and outreach work, but also connections with peers across the local area.

Further details about the role

Due to an internal promotion, Bridlington School requires a Year 11 Pastoral Manager to join the team.

The role of Pastoral Manager is vital ensuring the Year 11 students leaving Bridlington School become successful members of the community; whether that be transitioning into Bridlington School Sixth Form or moving on to a new destination.

Year 11 brings new challenges of final exams and exploring the next opportunities for our young people, which requires expert pastoral care. You will support our students to achieve the best outcomes and make successful next steps to achieve their hopes, ambitions and dreams. Promoting pathways into our sixth form is a key component of the role especially when students begin to make decisions regarding their next steps. Knowing you have played a part in the future success of our students makes this a very rewarding opportunity.

The Role

The Pastoral Manager for Year 11 works alongside the Head of Year to manage the pastoral care and supervision of the year group. Having a dual role of supporting behaviour as well as providing support and consideration of the welfare of our students makes this role equally challenging and unique.

You will support behaviour around the school site being visible and upholding the culture and climate of our TORCH values. Teachers have the option to ‘call out’ pastoral support where required in lesson, so there will be times when you will be needed to handle the behaviour of challenging students.

Pastoral Managers play a key role in the school attendance strategy and you will often be the first line of communication with parents/carers to support students being in school.

The Team

The pastoral and safeguarding team at Bridlington School is a large and experienced team. We have a Pastoral Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher for Culture & Climate, Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, Director of Key Stage and Designated Safeguarding Lead all working to remove barriers and ensure the best outcomes for our students.

The Year 11 team is made up of the Pastoral Manager and the Head of Year who work in conjunction with the senior teams above.

Bridlington School

Bridlington School is a maintained secondary school for 11 – 18 year olds. We have a growing sixth form and an Enhanced Resource Provision.

There is an average sized year group of 180 with a higher than average number of students with EHCPs and vulnerable students.

Commitment to safeguarding

Appointment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is pursuing equality of opportunity in employment and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
