TITLE: Pastoral Manager

SALARY: ALT Grade F Points 16 - 19

CONTRACT: Permanent

37 hours per week / 42 weeks per year.39 term time weeks plus 111 annualised hours to be worked according to business need. Monday to Thursday – 8am to 4pm, Friday – 8am to 3:30pm. These timings include a daily unpaid break of 30 minutes.

As a Pastoral Manager, you will play a crucial role in promoting the well-being and personal development of our students. You will provide one-on-one support, manage behaviour, and implement pastoral care programs that encourage positive student outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Offering guidance and support to students with emotional, social, and behavioural needs
  • Developing and implementing individualised support plans
  • Working with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and resolving conflicts.
  • Monitoring attendance and addressing punctuality and truancy issues.
  • Leading assemblies, workshops, and activities focused on well-being and personal development.
  • Acting as a designated safeguarding lead, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Collaborating with teachers, support staff, and the Senior Leadership Team to identify and address student needs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate prior experience in a similar role, the ability to work flexibly, prioritise their workload, remain calm under pressure, and maintain a professional, friendly demeanour always. The ideal candidate:

  • Experience in a pastoral, counselling, or similar role within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
