What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for somebody with passion and ambition to share our belief that every child should have the opportunity to realise their full potential; be encouraged to raise their aspirations and have the opportunity to learn in an environment that is safe, inspiring and guided by our school values. The primary purpose of the role is to work alongside teaching staff to identify learners in need of support or action or to address safeguarding concerns. You will need to liaise with parents, carers, school staff and external agencies in a professional and confidential manner to provide appropriate provision for these pupils. In addition, the role will include Designated Safeguarding Leader training and working alongside the Senior Leadership team in making referrals to include working with multi-agency partners. Candidates will hold the values of learning, equality and diversity in the highest terms and will be a strong role model to our staff and pupils. Good communication and written skills are essential.

We are looking for someone who;

  • Has a positive ‘can do attitude’ and is able to set clear, firm expectations for behaviour
  • Has excellent literacy (both written and verbal), numeracy and ICT skills
  • Is able to establish relationships with children (and adults) and encourage independence
  • Is a nurturing, calm and forward looking individual
  • Is able to work as a member of a team and under own initiative to support the wellbeing of all pupils
  • Has experience of leading behaviour interventions either with small groups or personalised programs.
  • Experience of working as part of a safeguarding team is desirable but not essential.

This position will involve playing a significant role in developing a pastoral team across the school which will support the behaviour and learning of vulnerable children in a child centred approach.
