The Angel Road Schools are looking for a passionate, highly motivated, skilled Pastoral Assistant to join our dedicated safeguarding and pastoral team for the start of the spring term 2026. You will join a dedicated and friendly pastoral team who support parents and children in our school. This is an exciting opportunity to work with families with the aim of improving attendance and pupil outcomes.
We are looking for people who:
- Are committed to safeguarding children and have worked as a DSL (or willing to undergo DSL Training)
- Experience of supporting families and running Family Support Plans
- Genuinely care about improving children’s life chances and have high aspirations for all children.
- Have English and Maths qualifications to Level 2 (GCSE A-C)
- Have a desire to continue own professional development.
- An excellent communicator who can build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
- Can work well as part of a team.
- Are able to manage behaviours and a range of emotional and social difficulties.
- Can run interventions and nurture groups to support children (experience of ELSA or willing to train as an ELSA)

The role will involve:
- Leading social skills groups/nurture provision;
- Maintaining accurate records of pupil incidents, conversations with parents and children;
- Assisting with supporting positive behaviour across the school;
- Supporting children in class with their learning;
- Responsibility for running a nurture group for part of lunchtime for vulnerable pupils;
- Supporting with pupil school Attendance;
- Working alongside parents with the potential to offer parent workshops;
- Be part of the DSL safeguarding team
- Running a young carer group;
