Pastoral Support Worker - Permanent job summary

The King’s School with 1100 students is an outstanding 11-18 comprehensive school with ambitious students, supportive parents and excellent facilities. We have a strong reputation for success across the curriculum and an extra-curricular programme which is valued highly by the whole school community. A commitment to the philosophy of ‘Achievement for All’ and a desire to work in an exciting, dynamic, creative and supportive way are essential for all staff at The King’s School.

We are seeking to appoint an additional Pastoral Support Worker to join our Student Support team from September 2022. The successful candidate will work with a range of other staff but particularly other Pastoral Support Workers and Heads of House.

This role is student-facing and will need someone who is prepared to be reactive and proactive. On a day-to-day basis Pastoral Support Workers are often the first point of contact for a range of issues from friendship fall-outs to feeling unwell and from losing an item of equipment to feeling sad. However, the role will also be focussed on proactively supporting students to achieve high levels of attendance, behaviour and engagement with school.

You will need to be prepared to support a wide range of students, be flexible and enjoy working with young people and their families. Very importantly, you will need to be able to work effectively with other staff and retain a sense of humour.

Please contact Mrs Pocock for further details or see our website and apply online. The closing date is 9am on Monday 6th June with a view to interview the following week. We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of students so all staff are enhanced DBS checked.

Commitment to safeguarding

When applying for the role, it is important that you refer to the school's Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and the DBS Disclosure Policy, which can be found on our website (About Us – Policy Documents). We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of students so all staff are enhanced DBS checked.
