What skills and experience we're looking for

Working collaboratively with the Head of Music and Drama, we are seeking to appoint a teacher who:

  • Is passionate about the performing Arts and willing to drive that passion by having a real enthusiasm for their subject and a commitment to the teaching of both music and drama.
  • Can raise standards of student attainment and achievement within their classes and monitor and support student progress.
  • Can develop and maintain an outstanding quality of teaching and learning.
  • Values extra-curricular and is passionate about delivering high quality extra-curricular activities, particularly regarding school performances.
  • Believes that the performing Arts has an important role to play in the development of students’ skills, knowledge and understanding.
  • Recognises the value of learning beyond the classroomin enhancing the understanding and experience of the world in which we live.

  • Teaches engaging and challenging lessons that promote students’ abilities to learn independently and to respond effectively to feedback.

  • Is prepared to accept and endorse the aims and policies of the school as outlined in the accompanying documentation.

Burton Borough is a vibrant and inclusive mixed Comprehensive School of 1157 students, situated on the Shropshire/ Staffordshire border within the pleasant market town of Newport.
