Performing Arts Technician

37 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks)

Actual Starting Salary: £16,656.59

Varndean School requires an enthusiastic, committed and outstanding Performing Arts Technician to support our thriving Performing Arts department.

The role includes:

Helping with sound and production in and around the school including supporting music with music technology and technical assistance with all things related to drama and dance

Lighting and sound for live events

Setting up of equipment for lessons - amplifiers, music studio

Maintenance of musical instruments both rock and pop and orchestral (the school has whole class sets of Brass, Woodwind and Strings)

Maintenance of stage lighting in teaching and performance spaces

Audio visual - setting up and assistance in assemblies

Filming, editing and managing/storing video footage (particularly for examination assessment evidence in Music, Dance and Drama)

Admin and clerical assistance with ordering/purchasing/hiring equipment and replenishing stock with awareness of department finances, downloading resources, and scheduling and assisting the smooth running of peri music lessons

The person employed will provide general support to the staff and students within this exciting and creative area (of performing arts subjects), including preparation and maintenance of resources and equipment and the technical support of our school assemblies, productions and performances, such as concerts and other events. They will need to be able to prepare specialist equipment, resources & materials as required by staff within strict time scales and be confident to set up and operate stage lighting and sound systems.
