Walton Priory is a school that takes pride in its multitude of STEAM awards, such as our achievement of being the winners of the BP Ultimate STEM Challenge. In our curriculum, we include an afternoon of rotational STEM activities and Competitive Sports that challenge and develop pupils’ knowledge and skills. We are currently in the process of leading an ENTHUSE bid for the schools in the local area, which includes projects at all stages of transition.
Pupils in KS3 have four Maths lessons per week, as well as one food-based lesson; two science lessons; an ICT lesson and an afternoon of STEAM based project work. Throughout the school, we have a high percentage of students who are achieving higher marks in classes. We have two modern suites in the science labs; an advanced ICT suite, library-based ICT suite; a class set of google Chromebooks; a DT suite and a newly refurbished sports hall and studio. We also have 10 acres of land which include wooded areas and a large playing field. Several teachers are currently training for the Forest School Leader award.
The successful candidate will teach Science lessons in the mornings and some afternoons and on certain days will teach science based STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) projects, in both KS2 and KS3.

Essential educational requirements

Degree or equivalent in any Science based discipline.
Qualified teacher status.
Evidence of continuing professional development and ability to work in a reflective culture.

Essential skills and experience

Outstanding teacher or record of outstanding practice within Initial Teacher Training placements.
Evidenced record of securing improvement in pupil learning.
Ability to lead, motivate and challenge pupils.
Ability to use outcomes from self-evaluation to inform future planning and improve standards.
To promote an innovative STEAM curriculum covering all four middle school years.
Use data to support learning, set targets and monitor and evaluate performance so leading to improve standards.
Ability to work as part of an effective team.
Ability to involve parents, carers and interested others in the pupils learning.
Organise time effectively.
Willing to take a share in extracurricular responsibility in the form of clubs, visits, competitions etc.
