What skills and experience we're looking for
We have an exciting opportunity for a Personal Care Assistant to join the team. The successful candidate will support children over a whole age range with varying and sometimes complex needs, to assist with their day to day classroom and personal requirements.
The successful candidate will:
- Support children with personal hygiene and self-care programmes
- Have a knowledge of all roles and responsibilities related to the care and support of children.
- Prepare learning materials and resources, adapting the environment when necessary.
- Support play and leisure activities
- Support children with eating and drinking at break times and lunch times
Essential
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage conflicting demands
- Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all chidlren and providing equality of opportunity

We are a specialist academy based in Mansfield with over 50 children aged 3-11 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). A large proportion of our children have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and moderate or severe learning disabilities (MLD/SLD). In our latest Ofsted inspection, we were rated ‘good’ in all areas with comments that the ‘school is friendly and inclusive,’ and that ‘children enjoy their time in school’ with children’s personal development being a ‘high priority’.
