In your role as Phonics Intervention Teacher you will work closely with our dedicated team to deliver high-quality phonics teaching. You will support targeted pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 to develop stronger phonics skills and be accountable for the implementation of interventions to ensure that every child succeeds.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Plan and deliver targeted phonics interventions for identified pupils, following the school’s curriculum, phonics programme, and intervention plans.
- Assess, monitor, record, and report on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of pupils receiving intervention, making accurate and productive use of assessment tools.
- Adapt intervention strategies to respond to the strengths and needs of individual pupils, ensuring sessions are engaging and effective.
- Set high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils to make accelerated progress in phonics.
- Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils through systematic teaching of phonics skills.
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge in early reading, phonics, and literacy development, applying evidence-based approaches.
- Collaborate with class teachers and Support staff to ensure interventions complement classroom learning and address gaps.
- Participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for statutory assessments, including EYFSP, Phonics Screening Checks and end-of-key-stage reading tests.
- Contribute to the planning, and implementation of the curriculum in accordance with the National Curriculum, school and departmental guidelines.
As this is a public-facing role, applicants must be able to communicate clearly and provide effective support in fluent spoken English.
