Phonics Lead job summary
Ayresome Primary School is part of Ad Astra Academy Trust and is embarking on an exciting chapter in the development of the school, and is looking to recruit a Phonics Lead to complete the new Senior and Middle Management Structure of the School.
This post is an excellent opportunity for someone to work in a leadership role. The right candidate will be an exceptional, passionate teacher who can lead by example, with the ability to inspire, motivate and support our pupils and staff, having a track record delivering outstanding lessons, raising standards and making a positive impact on teaching and learning.
The successful candidate will have the ability to coach and mentor members of the team in order to drive up standards of Phonics. They will also have an understanding of school improvement strategies, together with experience of leading curriculum developments. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate that they are ready to take on a challenging post within this forward thinking, almost 800 place school and are asked to demonstrate their skills and experience that they will bring to the post and how they will meet the requirements of the Person Specification.

The DfE approved an Academy Order for Ayresome Primary School to join Ad Astra in January 2019 as a sponsored school. Ayresome Primary School is a very large 2-11 primary school situated in the Gresham Ward of Middlesbrough; formed from the amalgamation of Ayresome Infants and Ayresome Juniors in 2002.
The School has almost 800 pupils on roll which includes a significant number of 2 and 3-year olds in their Park House provision. There are a number of different languages spoken by pupils with a significant number of children new to England and of Eastern European Roma origin.
