The Castle School is excited to be recruiting for a part time, permanent Photography Teacher to join our innovative Art Faculty in September 2022.

About the Arts Department (Art and Photography)

You will be joining a lively and thriving arts department. We offer a broad and exciting KS3 curriculum of art and design in which all students are encouraged to think independently and express themselves creatively. Staff have creative freedom within the curriculum to utilise their own skills and draw inspiration from contemporary sources as well as the more traditional. Collaboration and discussion about projects and schemes of work is highly valued in the department. At GCSE we offer Art and Design, Fine Art and Photography and have a significant uptake each year. These experiences feed into the wide selection of art A Levels we offer and where students perform above the national average, with many taking up places on arts based courses at University. At A Level we offer Fine Art, 3D Design, Textiles, Graphics and Photography. We have a full time technician and the arts are highly valued and supported throughout the school. The Octagon is a designated gallery space in school and students' work is celebrated around the school.

About the role

To support and challenge all students to achieve their full potential within this subject area so as to enable their confidence and knowledge to ensure academic success. The postholder will be expected to act as a role model to all students upholding the school values, and at all times promoting the safety and welfare of young people in accordance with CSET/School policies and procedures and any associated guidance.

This role requires you to be creative, innovative and agile with your thoughts and approach. You will be Photoshop proficient and have an excellent knowledge of the requirements of a secondary school Photography Curriculum. You will be able to build effective relationships with your peers and colleagues across the Trust, so will be personable and approachable. You will be innovative with a ‘finger on the pulse’ of any new or developing technology or concepts. You will be a positive role model for the students, modelling and setting high standards as well as consistently implementing school policies and actively building positive, supportive relationships. You will provide a safe and secure environment in which students are stimulated to value and enjoy learning and are encouraged to become caring, responsible citizens.
