Playworker - Wensum Junior School
Fixed term to 31.8.26. To work 9 hours per week. 3.00-6.00 pm. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. These days may be negotiable. Grade: C4 £13.05 per hour

Start date: 1st January 2026

Purpose of role

To assist in the delivery of a safe, engaging, and stimulating afterschool club environment for children. The Playworker will support the Afterschool Club Leader in delivering a wide range of creative and recreational activities.

Key responsibilities include -:

  • Set up activities and materials in preparation for each session.
  • Lead and support the delivery of varied and stimulating activities such as arts and crafts, games, cooking, and sports.
  • Encourage and support child-led play and interaction.
  • Promote positive behaviour through praise, encouragement, and the use of appropriate reward systems.
  • Ensure activity areas are tidied and cleaned after sessions, maintaining a hygienic and safe environment.
  • Maintain and organise equipment and resources to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and carers during daily face-to-face contact.
  • Support the Club Leader with any other duties in line with the level and nature of the role.
