Premises Assistant with Trade Experience job summary

PolyMAT is a small and ambitious MAT with a unique family feel that is seeking a Premises Assistant with keeping and maintenance responsibilities. Our vision is ‘Success for Everyone’ and the successful candidate will help deliver this for our schools. We currently have three schools in our Trust: Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys, a long-successful boys’ school, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls that opened in 2019, and Bannockburn Primary School, a large successful primary that joined the Trust on 1st November 2023. We also have our flourishing Sixth Form provision which is co-educational.

Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Premises Assistant to join the Premises team with keeping and maintenance responsibilities. The successful candidate will be qualified or have an equivalent level of experience in one of the three trades – carpentry, plumbing or electrical. You will work under the direction of the Premises Manager, with responsibilities for caretaking of the School site to ensure safety, security and sound condition of the buildings, facilities and grounds. Occasional out of hours and weekend work will be required.

We are looking for a candidate who has:

Qualified or have an equivalent level of experience in one of the three trades – carpentry, plumbing or electrical

Experience in building and routine maintenance, caretaking and decorating

Ability to work alone or as part of the premises team

A personable manner and to have a flexible approach to all duties undertaken

A good standard of IT skills

Ability to prioritise work, to act on own initiative, to work under pressure and to meet deadlines

Good inter-personal and organisational skills

Ability to work flexible hours and some shift patterns

Willingness to attend training courses to enhance development and performance
