Premises Manager job summary
John Ray Junior and Infant Schools are looking for a Premises Manager . This is a really important role where you'll be instrumental in making sure our school environments are safe, secure, clean, and run smoothly for everyone. You'll be working across our two friendly, neighbouring school sites alongside our Premises Assistant, reporting to the Headteachers and supported by our Trust Head of Estates.
Our schools are part of The Compass Partnership Schools, an innovative charitable Trust that includes 15 schools across Greenwich and Essex. It's a great community to be a part of!
This is a permanent, full-time role, working 52 weeks a year, Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break), plus your annual leave allowance. The salary is on the Essex pay scale 7, points 19 to 24.
We're looking for someone with flexibility, as there might be times you're needed outside of standard hours for projects, to handle emergencies, or to support school events - it’s all about ensuring our schools are always running perfectly! You'll be a key part of our wider premises team, working closely with a Premises Assistant, engaging regularly with our Headteachers, and connecting with the broader Trust team. We truly value great team players.
In this role, you’ll be looking after Maintenance & Operations, Compliance & Risk Management, Health & Safety, Financial Management and Procurement, and helping us with our Sustainability Initiatives and other Ad-hoc Project work.
We're hoping to find a proactive and skilled individual.
You’ll need a Full UK driving Licence.
Experience in delivering and managing both hard and soft services, as well as building services and asset management, would be fantastic.
A solid working knowledge of Health and Safety
The ability to work independently with excellent organisational and communication skills is key.
Being comfortable with IT and having a keen eye for detail, showing real pride in how our schools look and feel, will make a big difference.
Above all, we need someone with a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our young people.
Some maintenance experience, perhaps in decorating, plumbing, or carpentry, would also be a great asset.
And what do we offer you? Our fantastic employee offer includes:
National Terms and Conditions.
Access to the LGPS pension scheme.
Access to our Employee Benefits Platform, which comes with some lovely shopping discounts!
Access to our Employee Assistant Programme which includes access to a confidential advisory service 24/7 365 days per year.
