Primary Head Teacher job summary

The Meridian School is a maintained primary school of 200 pupils, built in the 1960s and located in the attractive village of Comberton, six miles west of Cambridge. The school is set in beautiful leafy-green grounds, adjacent to fields and the village recreation ground. Buildings and grounds are spacious, although needing some refurbishment.

The Meridian School offers a strong and welcoming community. Our children are committed to learning, the leadership team are driven to improve the school, the staff are dedicated to providing rich opportunities and our families are supportive.

We are looking for a Headteacher who:

Is a kind, supportive, energetic and resilient professional who can enthuse, inspire and empower staff, children and families

Is a proven exceptional leader and classroom practitioner who sets high expectations

Recognises the existing strengths of the school and areas for development

Has a desire to work with Governors to bring their own educational vision and values to drive forward necessary improvements post-Ofsted and as part of a Rapid Improvement Programme (as part of our post-Ofsted journey to improve)

Has a willingness to support our current values of Confidence, Courtesy, Responsibility and Adventure, but also to extend our vision and values to meet the needs of all our children in a changing world

Can take forward the strategic direction, alongside Governors, and further develop the school through: succinct school improvement planning and projects; objective self-evaluation and a dynamic curriculum and practice

Someone who: listens to the voices of staff and pupils; prospective mentors and coaches and colleagues; cares for and supports children; ensures high quality education provision for all children and has a commitment to inclusion, equality and diversity.
