Primary HLTA job summary
We are seeking an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant who believes that education begins with strong, authentic relationships. In this role, you will be more than a support provider. You will be a visible, positive presence and a role model who inspires pupils to exceed their own expectations. You will bridge the gap between pastoral care and academic excellence, ensuring that every child, particularly our most vulnerable, feels seen, valued, and challenged to succeed.
A Commitment to ExcellenceThis is a role for a practitioner who takes pride in high-quality pedagogy. You will work alongside teachers to plan and deliver creative, rigorous learning activities that meet ambitious national targets. Whether leading a whole class or a small intervention group, you will maintain an unwavering focus on quality, from the immersive reading environments you help create to the systematic feedback you provide to ensure every pupil makes rapid progress.
Relational LeadershipWe believe that high standards of behaviour are built on mutual respect. You will utilise your excellent relational skills to foster a culture of self-discipline and positive attitude across the school. As a lead member of our support staff, you will also extend this relational approach to your colleagues to maintain a cohesive, high-performing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesHigh-Impact Teaching: Delivering high-quality sessions that challenge pupils, with a specific focus on achieving 85% Expected National Standards in core subjects.
Building deep rapport with pupils to promote independence, self-reliance, and a love for learning.
Tracking and supporting disadvantaged pupils through precise interventions to close attainment gaps.
Acting as a proactive leader in safeguarding and a champion for the school’s ethos and behaviour policies.
We are looking for a professional who refuses to settle for "good enough." You understand that excellence is found in the details—the way a lesson is prepared and the way a child is encouraged. You possess the "specialist touch" required to adapt learning on the fly and the emotional intelligence to manage complex classroom dynamics with grace and authority.
