Primary Lead Literacy job summary
The Role;
We are seeking to recruit a teacher to take the lead on Literacy across the Primary phase and build on the strong start that we have made. The person in this role will lead on curriculum design, planning and staff development associated with Literacy. The successful candidate will be an strong teacher with an interest in Literacy and a track record of leading pupils to achieve excellent results. They will share the school’s vision and the belief that all young people can achieve at high levels. There will be significant career progression available for the successful candidate.
Key responsibilities;
Set vision and direction for Literacy in the Primary part of the Academy;
Through coaching and CPD, build teacher skill and confidence in Literacy so that teaching is consistently excellent;
Work closely with the SLT to ensure that there is alignment and excellence across all curriculum areas related to Literacy;
Work alongside Secondary colleagues to ensure that pupils are prepared to transition into Secondary English.
Additional responsibilities;
Ensure that Primary pupils are making rapid progress, and that teaching and learning is of a high quality;
Oversee the pastoral care of pupils;
Collaborate closely with parents to ensure that they are aware of their child’s progress, engaged in their development and sup- porting them in their vision for the future;
Co-operate with colleagues, including those in Secondary, to ensure all students make maximum progress, work with other adults to plan transformational learning experiences;
Track progress, regularly monitor reports on progress, identify and deliver interventions where appropriate;
Support the Academy Leadership Team to set vision and direction for the Primary section in line with Academy vision;
Align and uphold the Academy vision, standards of behaviour, discipline and exclusion policy; and deal effectively and sensitively with child protection issues.
