Primary Phase Department Lead – Teaching, Learning and Assessment job summary
We wish to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic teacher to the post of Primary Phase Department Lead – Teaching and Learning to join our school from September 2021. This post is offered on a fixed term contract to cover the substantive post holder’s maternity leave.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the career professional development and training processes, including Initial Teacher Training, in the Primary Phase. You will have:
• a track record of outstanding primary phase teaching;
• the knowledge and skills to lead on career professional development and training programmes;
• significant relevant experience of contributing to whole school issues;
• proven ability and enthusiasm to motivate students and staff;
• the ability to raise expectations and aspirations of students of all abilities;
• an understanding of effective strategies for urban schools.
You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to lead and influence others to achieve exceptional performance, holding them accountable to the highest expectations with respect to their own practice and the learning of the students in their classes.

Prendergast Primary School is part of Prendergast Ladywell School, an all-through school from EYFS to Year 11. The primary phase benefits from a purpose built primary building, as well as a stunning outdoor space which includes specifically designed play areas for Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, as well as the school's own Nature Reserve.
