What skills and experience we're looking for
Qualifications/Training/Experience
- QTS or QTLS
- Proven teaching experience in primary at KS2 or KS3. Your practice needs to be good or outstanding and experience of teaching children with emotional, social and mental health issues.
- Successful experience of teaching a broad and balanced curriculum at KS2/3 in line with the National Curriculum, including learners with a range of special educational needs most specifically social, emotional and mental health issues.
- SEN or SEMH experience.
- Additional qualification in special educational needs/emotional and behavioural difficulties (desirable).
- Experienced in Trauma Perceptive Practice (TPP) or good current knowledge of TPP.
- Evidence of on-going professional development.
Special Knowledge/Ability
- Good knowledge of the primary curriculum and national standards in core subjects.
- Knowledge and understanding of the statutory requires for KS2 & 3.
- Proven ability to deliver high standards of teaching and learning
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation techniques, such as observations, work sampling analysis of data.
- Knowledge of best practice in provision for the Primary years.
- Knowledge and experience of coaching other teachers to improve performance
- Knowledge and experience of teaching phonics
Communication
- Able to communicate orally with clarity and enthusiasm
- Able to give clear and effective feedback to staff.
Personal Qualities
- Drive and enthusiasm
- Able to prioritise and manage time effectively.
- Able to build effective relationships with pupils, parents, staff, outside agencies and governors.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team

We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Qualified Primary Teacher to work with KS3 students, delivering a KS2 broad and balanced curriculum to students and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our students. Ramsden Hall Academy holds a Good Ofsted status and our residential provision holds Outstanding Ofsted status. Our Academy is a Residential Special School for boys aged 10 to 16 who have an EHCP for Social, Emotional and Mental Health.
The purpose of the post is to secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and ensure improved standards of learning and achievement for all students. The post holder will ensure a cohesive and personalised programme of learning activities, in line with the national curriculum. The post holder will also have some pastoral responsibility and strive to ensure strong parent/carer relationships and have strong communication skills.
The post holder will support the senior leadership team (SLT) in raising standards and improving outcomes for learners, through the provision of high quality professional services across the school.
If you are Qualified teacher who is passionate about working with students with SEMH difficulties and can see the potential in all learners, then we would love to hear from you. A sense of humour is essential, and understanding of attachment, trauma based approaches and social development will be an advantage. Experience of the primary curriculum is essential.

Ramsden Hall Academy works with up to 100 secondary-age and Year 6 male students who have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) for Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues offering a residential provision.
The Academy aims to support all students with their specific needs and barriers to learning to enable them to reach their full potential both academically and in terms of managing their behaviour. This is achieved by providing high quality teaching and learning and by using assessment, engagement and developing educational programmes. The Academy works actively with students and their parents/carers to ensure positive outcomes for all.
