Reception/Early Years Teacher job summary
We are looking for an Early Years Teacher to join our Outstanding Early Years Team in January 2024.
As a four form entry school, St Matthew’s has the flexibility to offer you a large year group team to work within, led by an experienced Team Leader. As well as being part of a year group team, St Matthew’s also recognises that you will have an individual teaching style and welcome new ideas to our school. Following our Ofsted inspection in September 2023, St Matthew's Primary School was graded 'Good' overall with 'Outstanding' in Early Years.
Whilst St Matthew’s is a large primary school, it has a calm, personal and happy atmosphere. We are a big school with small community habits and pride ourselves on everyone’s personal, academic and professional well-being and this is a cornerstone of our ethos. The sense of being in an ambitious, supportive family is often commented on by children, parents and staff alike.
From our new Teacher we would ask you to:
Be an exemplary practitioner
Have ambition and aspiration for all pupils
Show demonstrable impact in your current role
Understand and believe that the pastoral care of pupils is paramount
Be a positive, optimistic and proactive team player
In return we can offer you:
A truly child centred, friendly and holistic school
A strong team and school community
A safe and nurturing environment for our staff as well as our pupils
A supportive and solution focused Team Leader and SLT who are dedicated to school improvement
As well as:
Dedicated specialist teams to support the work of teachers e.g. PE team, Language team and Family team
Teaching Assistant support in all year groups
Lots of extra-curricular activities and trips for the children
Progression pathways
Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
Comprehensive whole school CPD programme
Comprehensive individual CPD programme e.g. NPQML
Onsite parking
A well-equipped staff room, access to school lunches and a central location with many amenities in very short walking distance
We all know a picture speaks a thousand words, so a visit to St Matthew’s is the only way to understand why you would want to work here.
So call for an informal chat about the post, arrange a visit or apply now and take a step towards your future career at St Matthew’s!
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers, online searches and the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS). St Matthew’s Primary School is a popular, oversubscribed and happy school full of enthusiastic and well behaved children eager to have fun learning. We are a well-resourced and energetic school which is well supported by parents, governors and the wider community.
Alongside our mainstream provision we host a Behaviour Provision on behalf of the Central Area Partnership (CAP), made up of nine schools. This provision supports children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs that can make full time mainstream education difficult for them. The aim of the provision is to provide an environment, pastoral and educational experience that keeps them moving forward in their learning but focuses specifically on their personal, social and emotional development.
Through personalised learning programmes the provision endeavours to enable children to be fully integrated back to their own school as soon as possible, and equip them with the skills and strategies to be successful in this.
The Provision is based in a purpose built building with full access to all school facilities. The space was designed to enable a personalised, hands on, creative, practical and responsive curriculum so that the needs of individuals could be effectively met in a safe space.
