Principal job summary
We are keen to work with leaders who can see the potential at Bowling Green Academy and are inspired to both utilise and contribute to the Trust’s school improvement offers including making the most of our local, regional and national work.
The Trust Board and Local Governing Body are seeking a highly driven and talented individual to join our thriving Multi-Academy Trust which is fully committed to making a difference to the life chances of our pupils. We are keen to hear from a skilled leader who has a successful background in school improvement and who is capable of playing a major role in our evolving plan to deliver exceptional provision for the children in our communities.
The successful individual will have demonstrated a significant impact on teaching and learning in their current role and will also possess the vision and drive to work in close partnership with The Trust to ensure our academies achieve maximum success for all those in its care.
The post would suit a leader who is looking to further enhance their experience within a Multi Academy Trust which provides options to progress with the growth of the Trust. We want to hear from leaders who have the leadership qualities and communication skills to make the most of potential at Bowling Green Academy, and lead a team of dedicated staff, hardworking children and supportive parents. The successful applicant should have a strong track record of school improvement and share the Trust’s vision. You will need to be an articulate and strong communicator with proven strengths in engaging, inspiring and motivating staff at all levels, and working closely with the local community.

Bowling Green Academy is a 4-11 primary academy and has a real ’family feel’; many of the pupils have generations of relatives who have attended the school from the local community. It is a lovely village school at the very heart of the Stainland community in Halifax.
The academy has a 23-reception intake with 139 pupils on roll. The school is a Victorian building, built in 1882 and enlarged in 1892 and in 2001 extended again to improve accommodation. As of December 2020, the School joined Great Heights Academy Trust.
Bowling Green has had an acting head in place and an Executive Principal from within the trust providing leadership mentoring for this transition period. The most recent December 2020 external SIP visit referenced “It is important to take on board that school provision and outcomes does not bear scrutiny when compared to the last Ofsted ‘good’ judgement. However, there are encouraging signs that alleviate these issues.”
