Bradstow has a full staff of nearly 300 to support the education and development of young people from Wandsworth and other local authorities: some are 38 week residents, some 52 week, and there are some day students from the local area of Kent. The successful applicant will find an able and experienced team of senior managers who provide excellent support.
Due to the retirement of our current Headteacher, the Governors of Bradstow School are looking to appoint a leader who will drive our unique vision and values, organisational behaviours, ethos and ambition for Bradstow School, its young people and our community.
We are looking for a Principal who will lead by example to develop and deliver our vision for the highest standard of education and residential care provision. The successful candidate must have a commitment to sustain the school’s current vision statement and Culture of Gentleness.
The successful candidate will be able to articulate an affinity and commitment to our school community’s vision and values, as well as have a demonstrable record of leading outstanding teaching and learning, and excellent leadership experience.
Candidates should have experience as a Headteacher or senior leader in a SEN school.
In addition to being an ardent advocate for inclusion and for our young people, the successful candidate will be experienced in the field of SEN, preferably in a residential school or care setting, and leading, supporting and developing multi-disciplinary management teams to succeed and work collaboratively. They will be tenacious, reflective and a deep listener, with the ability to keep calm in challenging situations, to deliver the best possible outcomes for the complex young people in our care.

Bradstow is a residential special school registered as a childrens' home in Broadstairs, Kent. It is maintained by the London Borough of Wandsworth for children and young people with severe intellectual disabilities who are on the autistic spectrum continuum. Many of our children and young people have associated communication difficulties and emotional/behavioural challenges associated with their disabilities and medical needs.
