What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governors are seeking to appoint a strong, visionary leader who will lead by example to deliver the highest standard of educational and residential care provision. The successful candidate will be able to inspire a multi-disciplinary team of around 250 staff including education, care, therapy and support staff to work collaboratively to successfully drive forward the vision and values of the school.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable record of leading outstanding teaching and learning, and excellent leadership experience, including change management.Candidates should have experience as a Headteacher or senior leader in a SEN school, preferably with a residential component.

In addition to being a strong advocate for our young people, they will be tenacious, resilient, and a reflective practitioner, with the ability to keep calm in challenging situations, delivering the best possible outcomes for the complex young people in our care.

What the school offers its staff

Bradstow is a residential special school registered as a children’s home in Broadstairs, Kent, catering for children and young people with severe intellectual disabilities who are on the autistic spectrum continuum. Many of our children and young people have associated communication difficulties and emotional/behavioural challenges associated with their disabilities and medical needs.The school caters for 38-week residents, and there are an increasing number of day students from the local area.

The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced leadership team and Wandsworth Council, the maintaining Local Authority.
