Job summary

We are looking to appoint a Principal for Harris Primary Academy Orpington. The Academy was judged to be a Good school by Ofsted in Summer 2019 and is well placed for further improvement. We are interested to hear from experienced school leaders who want to join a highly collaborative Federation with a network of supportive Principals and mentors.

The academy is located in the borough of Bromley but is situated in a part of the borough with above average levels of deprivation. The post will suite a candidate wanting to make a difference in an area of need. Our students deserve a great Principal who can make a difference to their life chances.

The position would suit an existing Principal/Headteacher, or a Deputy, who has the leadership skills to build an outstanding academy. For first time Principals, we can provide the support needed in the form of individual mentoring from an established Harris Executive Principal, and for experienced school leaders we offer opportunities for progression to Executive Principalship.

This is a great opportunity to join a Federation with over 80 highly experienced school leaders, all of whom are committed to working together and transforming lives across London. We believe we are at the forefront of nurturing and developing academy leaders.

About Harris Primary Academy Orpington

Harris Primary Academy Orpington is a ambitious two-form entry school which opened in September 2016 in Bromley on the site of the predecessor school. We believe that every child is different and that everyone deserves the opportunity to be happy, secure and successful. We are located just ten minutes from Orpington train station with good links on public transport and an large onsite car park.

The academy is surrounded by a large grounds which enables us to take our learning outside, including through Forest School. Our aim is to provide our pupils with a well-rounded and enjoyable education that ensures each child succeeds academically, physically and emotionally - preparing them for life in an ever-changing world. We have identified six shared values, which we develop with the children throughout the academic year: Respect, Unity, Cooperation, Aspiration, Responsibility and Integrity. Our evolving curriculum has been designed to challenge and inspire the children; exposing them to a wide variety of exciting experiences including visits, events, sports, music and drama but also time to reflect and respond.
