Principal job summary

We are now recruiting for the Principal of Oaks Primary Academy; a truly rare leadership opportunity within a very successful and financially sound, mature and geographically local multi-academy trust that combines management freedom for effective leaders with secure central support that encourages collaboration for success.

Oaks Primary is a one-form entry primary academy with over 200 pupils on roll, including a thriving Nursery. We are very proud of the school and the hard work and positive attitude of all our pupils and staff. Key stage 2 progress scores are consistently “Well Above Average” placing Oaks in the top 5% of primaries in Kent based on performance. Outcomes in all other areas (i.e. early years, phonics and key stage 1) are also above national averages. Consequently, the academy is on the verge of being judged “outstanding” by Ofsted. Oaks is also an International Baccalaureate candidate school for the Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Teaching and learning areas are inspiring and exceptionally well maintained, providing a stimulating working environment for pupils and staff. We are continually striving to improve our facilities and add to our already abundant supply of resources in order to enrich the experiences of our pupils.

The teachers and support staff form a very strong team and high-performing team. They work closely with our supportive governing body and Leigh Academies Trust to promote high standards throughout the whole academy. Parents provide extra invaluable voluntary support and there is a well-established PTA, which offers a programme of fundraising activities throughout the year.

The academy teaches a broad and balanced curriculum which is enriched by a wide range of extra-curricular activities and within the framework of the International Baccalaureate PYP. It is our aim to provide a happy, safe, and caring community, where everyone is encouraged and supported to achieve their goals.

Our successful candidate will receive encouragement, support and guidance to enhance their own career within the Trust. They will already be a talented senior leader at a successful primary school with real ambition to improve the life chances of the pupils at Oaks Primary Academy.

We will expect the Principal to carry on the positive culture and ethos where every child is expected to do well and their progress is supported each step of the way. This is a unique opportunity for the successful individual to put their own stamp on this exceptional academy which serves a diverse and deserving community by further developing our outstanding team.

We wish to hear from you if you really want to change our education world and are:

an enthusiastic, energetic and ambitious school leader with a track record of success at primary level;
a motivational and inspirational leader with high expectations of staff;
confident and able to communicate a clear vision for the school;
able to develop children to reach their full potential regardless of background or circumstance;
