Principal job summary

Within the Christian context of this Church of England Academy:
1. Set a clear vision and lead the ethos, development and success of the Academy and communicate this clearly and effectively to staff, pupils, parents and governors.
2. Ensure that the Academy’s strategic development plan is implemented, monitored and reviewed to effectively instil an ethos and culture of high expectations in all aspects of the life
of the Academy.
3. Ensure that the Academy is compliant with current legislation and guidance at all times.
4. Provide dynamic, consistent and motivational leadership and management that will influence and inspire staff and pupils.
5. Ensure that there is effective communication across the Academy so that all staff and governors receive the relevant information promptly in order to carry out their professional
duties.
6. Lead in creating workable and effective structures and systems for the Academy, evaluate their effectiveness in delivering pupil progress taking into account teacher views, assessments and external accountability.
7. Ensure that assessment and progress measures for all students in the Academy are accurate and consistent and have a clear and agreed approach that staff can fully own and understand.
8. Further develop open and transparent relationships with other schools/academies in the Diocese, the local authority and neighbouring authorities.
9. Ensure that there are clear avenues of communication for parents and pupils.
10. Be responsible for nurturing and developing the ethos and spirituality of a Christian community.
11. Enhance the development of Religious Education and Collective Worship ensuring that all stakeholders – staff, pupils, governors and parents – are involved and aware of procedures.
12. Ensure that Christian values are embedded in all areas of the life of the Academy.
