What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an individual who will complement the existing team of Academy Principals but also add challenge and new ideas, enabling the existing staff bodies to develop as learners and leaders in order to realise their own potential. Each school within our trust has its own unique identity within a wider family of schools, each a fulfilling place to work and learn and each occupying important space in the educational landscape of their cluster and within the Cabot Learning Federation.

The successful candidate will have a drive and passion to lead the academy and accelerate improvement. You will have a track record of success and bring to the academy a level of focus, precision and rigour that will have a substantial and sustained impact on the academy into the future. Improvement will be based on an unswerving focus on teaching and learning and a strong commitment to collaboration within and beyond the Cabot Learning Federation.

What the school offers its staff

Winterstoke Hundred Academy (Academy Website) is a forward-thinking Academy based in Weston-Super-Mare. The Academy provides education to a rising cohort of around 700 students. The Academy opened in 2020 with Years 7 and 12 and now has students from Years 7 to 10 and in Years 12 and 13. The children at Winterstoke Hundred Academy are excited to learn and are real ambassadors for our community. They benefit from a hugely positive and supportive learning environment housed in excellent, modern facilities.

Winterstoke Hundred Academy (WHA) is named after the historic parish of Weston-super-Mare. We are a smaller scaler 11-19 academy, offering a curriculum which celebrates prior learning whilst preparing learners for the challenges of the future. We work closely with our family of partner schools in the Trust, and believe strongly in the importance and benefits of collaboration. Winterstoke Hundred has benefited from funding which has enabled an entirely bespoke and brand new additional site to be built less than a mile away, in Locking Parklands. This will open between 2023 and 2024, and will enable the strengths of each site to be enjoyed by all students. This is a particularly exciting time for WHA - as a new academy, in new buildings, and with new students, we are seizing the opportunity to shape the landscape for our learners, to deliver an exceptional educational experience, and to enable them to fulfil their potential.
