We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of Psychology and Health & Social Care to join our team of dedicated teachers.

The Thomas Aveling School is a popular and over-subscribed school where you will join a motivated, supportive and friendly team who make a valuable contribution to the success of the school. This post would suit either a newly qualified teacher, for whom full support and induction will be provided, or a more experienced teacher looking for an opportunity to develop their career in a forward thinking and ambitious school. The successful candidate will:

• Be an excellent practitioner (teaching Psychology to A Level and Health & Social Care to both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5

• Have the knowledge and experience, or ambition to teach across the whole range of age and abilities

• Be enthusiastic, resourceful and keen to ensure that the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, personal development and wellbeing are achieved

The Thomas Aveling School is an 11-19 co-educational non-selective secondary school, serving our community in Rochester. The school is a converter academy (having gained this status in September 2011) previously being a Technology College and Training School. For us, a truly successful education means being the very best that you can be and we are proud of every pupil’s achievements and progress throughout their school years.

The school sits in a large expanse of land with playing fields, astro courts and multi-play facilities amongst its resources. We have specialist teaching areas for Science, Design Technology, Art and Sport in addition to our wonderful Performing Arts Centre which includes a full Dance and separate Drama studio.

OFSTED – June 2016 said that “Staff morale and relationships within the school are very positive.” And “ Pupils enjoy school, have a positive attitude to learning and behave well”

97% of staff in a recent Staff Survey 2019 said that they are made to feel welcome at Thomas Aveling and that behaviour in the school is good
