Broomfield greatly values the work of our Pupil Welfare Team and the vital contributions they make to the school in developing the life chances and opportunities of our pupils and young people.
We are looking for
a Pupil Welfare, Safeguarding and Early Help Lead (incl Designated school
roles) to lead the operational, day to day management of safeguarding, child protection
and pupil welfare across the school sites; planning, co-ordinating and
delivering practical support, advice and guidance to pupils, staff and
vulnerable families.
Leads and manages
the team of Family Support Workers and Deputy Safeguarding Leads and works
closely with multi agency teams.
Broomfield South
SILC is an all age, co-educational day school maintained by Leeds City Council.
Our pupils and young people (2-19) have a wide range of learning difficulties,
including Autistic Spectrum Condition.
We offer an inclusive setting operating on the main Broomfield site and
two mainstream partnership sites:
- Windmill Primary School
- Rodillian Academy
This enables us to
meet a wide variety of pupils’ needs and provide support and advice to the
community.
The successful
applicants will have;
- Knowledge of current legislation, policy and guidance relating to work of children’s services and the Children and Families Act 2014
- Experience of implementing best practice in safeguarding children and Local Safeguarding Children Board Procedures including information sharing protocols
- Secure Knowledge of Microsoft software packages.
Well informed
knowledge about the development needs of children and young people
Evidence-based
practice to meet the needs of vulnerable families and to support children who
may have experienced abuse
Detailed
knowledge of SEN and the impact additional needs may have on an individual and
their family
Experience of working effectively with children, young people and families in challenging circumstances
- Experience of working professionally within the Early Help process
- Recognised Child Protection qualification or training

We are an all-age generic special school serving South Leeds. We cater for a wide range of learning needs from moderate learning difficulties; severe learning difficulties; complex and multiple learning needs to Asperger’s and Autism. Some students have additional needs – physical; medical; speech and language; visual, hearing or sensory impairment.
Many pupils are based on our main Broomfield site and in addition some within our mainstream partnership sites - Windmill Music Federation and Rodillian Academy, where opportunities for mainstream inclusion are maximised, if appropriate.
