An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the staff of this vibrant, high achieving Lancashire specialist school for deaf children aged 2 -11 from September 2020, graded Outstanding by OFSTED for the third consecutive inspection.
Royal Cross is a small and lively school, enthusiastic about learning through enjoyment and dedicated to meeting the individual needs of pupils, particularly the ability to communicate in whatever way works best. We believe that by working in active partnership with families and the community we are able to achieve the best outcomes for all our children.
We are seeking to appoint a full time enthusiastic and ambitious Teacher of the Deaf with Stage 2 signing skills. The successful applicant will be joining a hard working team of committed professionals working in Lancashire’s school for deaf children.
This is a position for a Teacher of the Deaf with primary experiences across all key stages and a commitment to contribute towards curriculum development and subject leadership.

Essential skills and experience

Teaching deaf children/SEND.
An understanding of the needs of primary age children with SEND including children with a range of hearing impairments
To work collaboratively as part of a team
To possess good interpersonal skills
Good signing skills (BSL/SSE) and deaf awareness
To have experience in planning, organising and monitoring the school curriculum at primary level.
To have experience of working alongside other teaching colleagues and support staff
To be able to differentiate the curriculum according to a child’s individual needs.
Willingness to participate in performance management and with a commitment to continuing professional development
To have an up to date knowledge of issues related to deaf pupils.
Willingness to undertake additional CPD.
Evidence of high motivation and commitment to further the needs of deaf pupils.
A commitment to safeguarding, protection and the welfare of children at Royal Cross in line with Safeguarding policies and practice.
