Qualified Teacher (Special School) job summary

The School is keen to attract a Qualified Teacher who can demonstrate an optimistic and aspirational attitude towards our pupils. It is desirable that you possess some prior experience of working with pupils with special educational needs. However the role would also be suitable for a Qualified Teacher who may not possess experience but is willing to be trained in the appropriate pedagogy and strategies.

You will be responsible for a class group supported by at least two Teaching Assistants. You should be a team player with a positive attitude who is keen to learn and has proven experience of organising the work of other staff. It is also important that you understand the milestones in early childhood development and that you are able to differentiate well. It is also important that you have an understanding of the challenges that will arise due to the complex needs of our pupils.

Trinity is a very large special school based in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. We serve the special educational needs of over 290 disabled children and young people. We are an all-through School for pupils aged 3 to 19. Our pupils have a wide range of learning difficulties including; moderate, severe, profound and complex. A number of our pupils also have an Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
