Reading Intervention Lead job summary

We are seeking a passionate and driven Reading Intervention Lead to champion reading across the academy and support pupils in achieving age-appropriate reading standards.
About the role
You will lead the development and delivery of a coherent, whole-school approach to reading, with a particular focus on supporting Key Stage 3 students. Working closely with senior leaders, curriculum teams and the library, you will:
- Identify pupils who need support using a range of data (e.g. SATs, NGRT, CAT4 and internal assessments)
- Design and deliver targeted, high-impact reading interventions
- Monitor progress and adapt strategies to ensure rapid improvement in reading age
- Lead diagnostic assessments to pinpoint barriers to reading
- Support the delivery of guided reading programmes across the academy
- Provide training and model excellent practice for staff
- Champion reading across the school, promoting a culture where literacy is at the heart of learning
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for reading and improving outcomes for young people
- Believes every pupil can succeed, regardless of background
- Has strong analytical skills and is confident using data to inform practice
- Is organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities
- Can build positive relationships with students, staff and families
- Is an effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- Works collaboratively but can also use their initiative
A GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C or above is essential.
