Chestnut Park Primary is seeking an inspiring and enthusiastic Reception Class Teacher to join our vibrant, nurturing Early Years team from April 2026 on a permanent basis. Your opportunity

As our new Reception Class Teacher, you will take the lead in planning and delivering high‑quality, engaging lessons that promote strong early learning and inspire every child to thrive. You will create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment where children feel safe, confident and excited to explore, ensuring learning is well‑differentiated and supports all abilities, including those with SEND.

The role involves effective use of assessment to monitor progress, set ambitious targets and adapt teaching accordingly, as well as maintaining high standards of behaviour, communication and wellbeing. You will work closely with parents, carers and external agencies, contribute to school-wide initiatives, and play an active part in staff meetings, professional development and the wider life of our Outstanding school community.

What we're looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and a strong track record as a good or outstanding practitioner.
  • Experience using assessment and data to inform planning and improve outcomes.
  • Confident supporting children with SEND and delivering inclusive learning.
  • Positive, motivated and reflective, with a commitment to professional development.
  • A strong communicator and team player, aligned with the values of GLF Schools.

We are a three-form entry primary school in the heart of Croydon, catering for children aged between 4 and 11. This year we will be at full capacity and will be welcoming our first year 6.

At Chestnut Park we have a passionate and dedicated team of staff who make great efforts to support the children to achieve their full potential by ensuring they are inspired by what they are learning. This is underpinned by an innovative tailored-made curriculum that has been created to engage, excite, and inspire the children. It gives them the opportunities and experiences, and teaches them a range of skills and knowledge to reinforce their love and passion for learning.

We are incredibly proud of our children at Chestnut Park and delighted to say that our children see our school as a safe place to be. Somewhere where they feel happy and valued.
